Where the HECM numbers on this site come from, and what happens when one is wrong.
This page covers who is behind ReverseMortgageGuide, where the figures in the calculators and guides originate, and what we do when something needs fixing.

Chris Terry publishes ReverseMortgageGuide and is the one accountable when a figure needs a fix. The guides on the site are written by Jessica Martinez; her background is on the Authors page.
The lending limit, the age-based principal limit factors, and the program rules used across this site come from HUD and FHA publications, primarily HUD's Mortgagee Letters and the HECM program pages, rather than from any lender's own marketing. When a figure like the 2026 lending limit appears on a page, we link to the source behind it so you can check it yourself.
HUD generally revises the HECM lending limit once a year, and mortgage insurance premium rules or principal limit factors can shift whenever a new Mortgagee Letter is issued. We recheck the calculators and the 2026 reference page against those releases, and the reference table carries a date stamp so you can see how current it is.
If a number here looks wrong, outdated, or confusing, use the contact page to tell us. We would rather hear about a mistake from a reader and correct it than leave it standing.
Some links on this site are affiliate links, and clicking one can earn us a commission. That arrangement does not change what a calculator outputs, and we do not rank or feature specific lenders as paid placements.
